Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey draws on a thousand year old technique to create unique contemporary Western art that has made her one of the most recognizable and sought after Montana artists. Over a 35 year career of traveling the world, she has mastered a Chinese technique of painting on silk resulting in a vibrancy and inner light almost as if her flowers and animals are illuminated from within. She creates buoyant color and texture with her combination of transparent pigment and shimmer of silk. You can almost smell her flowers! A colorist with a strong sense of design, Nancy’s work always evokes response. She once noted: "I like to mix color on the surface of the painting – giving the work immediacy and spontaneity – what I call spirited painting.”

Dodson's is honored to host a special showing of Nancy's work in October 2013 beginning with an artist's reception Friday, October 4, from 5PM to 9PM.
