Dennis Kirkland has spent the last ten years photographing nature in locations ranging from his home in the Methow Valley of north central Washington, to travels in Peru and Tanzania. His “Stonescapes” collection is currently on display in the Dodson’s fine arts gallery. The collection is named with good reason – taken with a macro lens and placed on canvas, these photographs of cut rocks from the Northwest are transformed into colorful abstract landscapes. Dennis notes, “I enjoy creating images that are outside of people’s normal experiences – images that make you wonder what you are looking at and allow you to see things in a new and different way.” This collection truly embodies those words.
